Spirit Descending is the business of Rev. Julie Holm, a UCC minister serving three small rural churches in the dead center of Pennsylvania. A part time, bivocational minister, Julie was searching for something to fill in the work and earnings gap after she left her 30+ year IT career in June 2017.
For many years Julie had made stoles as gifts for friends, for ordinations and installations, and for herself. She had some ideas for new stoles, and began to make them and sell them. Out of this effort Spirit Descending was born. It was named based on Julie’s devotion to the Holy Spirit, her favorite member of the Trinity!
All of the stoles are designed and made by Julie, with the help of her handy Singer Futura sewing machine. She is able to work with you to make sure you get exactly what you need!
Spirit Descending stoles are unique. Each one is hand made, with a unique set of fabrics. Often a variety of crosses are used to decorate the stoles, and even in a set no two stoles may be exactly the same. Fabrics come in and out of availability, and even a standard stole may change based on availability.
Many of our fabrics are specialty and world fabrics and are particularly subject to going out of availability. We love the variety and the beauty of these stoles and these wonderful, unique fabrics. We hope you do too!
