Inspired by a request for a stole that could be worn by a minister who had a significant dedication to protest, Do Justice reflects the words of the prophet Micah (Micah 6:8). Special paintings were commissioned by artist Karl Eric Leitzel to reflect both the importance of voicing our values in protest, and the importance of acting to help those for whom justice rarely comes. These paintings were lovingly transferred onto custom linen fabric and combined with other linen to create these stoles. Versions have been put together with standard crosses and with rainbow crosses for those for whom the LGBTQIA community is of particular concern. Do Justice is available in green, white and black, the latter not as a liturgical color, but to better show off the paintings in the protest venue. These paintings can be incorporated into custom stoles as well.
Do Justice stoles are $165. Order.
The musical inspiration for the name is very special to me. Micah 6:8 is my life verse, and my brother, Peter wrote Do Justice as an ordination gift to me in 2012.
Come on, trade your hate for compassion.
Come on, trade your violence for love.
Come on, beat your swords into ploughshares.
The God of the armies of Heaven is calling.
Let’s do justice to every woman and man,
let’s bring mercy from Heaven to transform the Land,
let’s walk humbly and stretch out our tiny hand and follow the heart of the one who made us.
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah! There’s no God like you, God.
